Dojos are Back!!!
It’s that time of year again...and Dojos are back. For those parents and readers who don’t know, Class Dojo is a free website that teachers can use to motivate and support positive student behavior in the classroom. Each student picks his or her own character, also known as a Dojo, and is then given opportunities to earn points based on showing positive behavior associated with our classroom and school wide expectations. It’s a really exciting way to teach students appropriate behaviors and lets students know when they are doing what we are expecting of them.
In our classroom, students can earn points for the following expectations…

Working as a team
-
Following directions
-
Working hard
Students know that when they show these behaviors they will earn points towards their Dojo.
The Dojos are displayed on the smartboard in our classroom everyday and when a student or students earn a point, I am able to tap their Dojo and assign one based on what behavior was demonstrated. These points will eventually link to classroom rewards and incentives that they enjoy.
Many of the classrooms at Goodrich are using Class Dojo this year to motivate students to always demonstrate our school wide and classroom expectations, and I can’t wait to see the impact that it has on student behavior both inside my classroom and around the school this year!
