Letter to the Editor: Keith McGlashan responds to opponent's comments

Keith McGlashan's Shoreline City Council opponent has been making extensive use of the "comments" section. McGlashan has been given this opportunity to respond. Editor.

To the Editor:

It’s too bad that my opponent for Shoreline City Council used the Shoreline Area News to spread misinformation about Richmond Beach Road and my position on the Point Wells development; here are the facts. In 2011 I voted to re-designate Richmond Beach Road from a roadway that allows 10,000 car trips per day downgrading it to a roadway that allows only 4,000 car trips per day. The city council vote was unanimous, and that restriction stands in place still.

The developer would be required to perform significant road improvements at their expense for the city council to reconsider our designation and allow more trips per day, and provide proof of a funding source for those improvements. That seems highly unlikely if not impossible, and even if the developer made such a proposal, the council would still have the opportunity to vote.

My opponent attended candidate forums and heard my position on minimizing the Point Wells development and its impacts; I hope she sticks to the true facts as we move forward in this important campaign.
