According to fire department lore, the original, horse-drawn fire wagons had to be manually pushed into the fire houses. It was more feasible than training a team of horses to back up.

When fire departments switched to motorized vehicles, pushing a fire engine into the firehouse became a ceremony reserved for new engines.

On Monday, January 22, 2018, bright and early at 8:30am, Shoreline Fire homed its new ladder truck to Station 65, 145 NE 155th St.
