Make Sale

Last week fourth grade wrapped up the make sale portion of their compassion project. Students sold the items they created in class during both lunch periods to raise money for Feed My Starving Children. Students worked on their products for weeks and were so excited to sell what they made to their peers in order to raise money for a great cause.

I was blown away by the items these fourth grade students decided to make. Students created a number of impressive items including crocheted bracelets, locker-sized dry erase boards, magnets, bookmarks, and even pillows. Seeing the peak of students’ creativity while producing and then watching them become salespeople before my eyes has been truly incredible. It has been amazing for me to have the chance to see my students in this different light.

Our next step is to take the money we raised with us when we visit Feed My Starving Children on a field trip later this month. Fourth grade has done a similar compassion project for the last few years and it still amazes me to see students grow in their interest and empathy for those who do not have as much as they have. Giving back has always been important to me and I love that my students have had the opportunity to contribute at such a young age. We can’t wait to volunteer at FMSC and give them our donation!
